Police make 71 arrests after 5-year child porn investigation

There are a lot of perceptions that people have in regards to different crimes. When it comes to criminal sexual conduct, for example, there is a definite stigma that goes along with that. Members of the public and media often make their assumptions known, but law enforcement agents are expected to respect every person's rights and enforce the laws fairly. However, there have been many cases when a person's civil rights are violated in the pursuit of a criminal conviction. This can add to the already-long list of challenges that a person accused of sexual misconduct in Florida can face.

People who are investigated, arrested, charged and tried for sex-related crimes already have a lot working against them. Besides the negative public reaction and aggressive nature of law enforcement tactics, the average person can be overwhelmed by the resources aimed at putting alleged sexual offenders behind bars. That is why it can be so crucial for a person in this situation to discuss their options with a criminal defense attorney.

The 71 people recently arrested in a child pornography sting in another state are likely considering this option after authorities executed a large-scale investigation into online sharing of pornographic images.

Most men and women would assume that the people who have been arrested are sex offenders or people with long criminal records and a history of misconduct. However, according to reports, many of those who were arrested in the sting were people with families, careers, respected standing in a community and even religious leadership positions. There is no doubt that there is certainly a lot at stake for these people.

Authorities are still digging through the computers and electronic devices of those who were arrested. While the investigations continue, it can be crucial for those arrested to speak with an attorney. Every case is different and each person is innocent until proven guilty. While there may be strong reactions from a community and the media, and aggressive tactics utilized by law enforcement agents, people do not have to take this situation on alone. Every person has the right to defend themselves against criminal charges and fight to avoid inappropriate charges or sentencing.
