A man in Florida was recently arrested on DUI charges after he got in a minor accident at the drive-thru for a McDonald’s.

Per reports, the man ran into the rear bumper of the next vehicle waiting in line numerous times. The woman in that car then decided to call the police. She waited at the McDonald’s and told officers which man had done it when they showed up.

The officer then went up to talk to the man, and he said that he could smell alcohol and that the man’s eyes were red. Furthermore, the officer said that the man was slurring his words and that, in a brown bag, he had an open bottle of Jim Beam bourbon.

When asked how much he had to drink that day, the man gave differing accounts, first saying that he had consumed three drinks and then changing it to four.

In addition, the police asked the man if he had been drinking and driving. He denied it, saying that he only drank when he stopped at traffic lights and stop signs, not while the car was in motion.

The officer then told the man he needed to go through some field sobriety tests, which he failed, and so they gave him a breath test. It showed that his Blood Alcohol Concentration was .153 in one test and .147 in another. Both of those are well over the legal limit of 0.08.

On top of that, the man does have a history of DUI offenses, with two charges that took place in Missouri, and he did not have a driver’s license.

DUI charges carry serious ramifications and it is important for anyone who gets arrested to know all of his or her legal defense options.
