Middle school teacher facing DUI charges

A middle school teacher in Florida has been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested. Though the legal limit in Florida is a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent, authorities claim that his BAC came in at 0.263 percent, which would put him more than three times higher.

The teacher is 29 years old.

It wasn’t even the police that noticed him at first, according to reports, but a civilian witness. That person said that he was “driving erratically” and called the police. The witness apparently watched the man hit a Nissan with his Ford pickup, and then reports claim he tried to leave the scene of the crash.

However, as he allegedly fled “at a high rate of speed,” his pickup truck went out of control. It left the road and crashed into a telephone pole. After that, it slammed into a fence, drove through it, and then hit a water main.

Despite all of that, no one was hurt. When the police arrived and talked to the man, they said he seemed drunk, and so they gave him some field sobriety tests. He did not pass the tests, they claim, and so they arrested him.

When he got to the jail, they gave him two official breath tests. One came back at 0.263 percent, as noted above, and the other came in at 0.255 percent.

Drunk driving charges can have a drastic impact on a person’s life, leading to fines, jail time, a suspended license and other such ramifications. They’re also problematic for those pursuing a professional career, which may be put in jeopardy. That’s why it’s so important for anyone facing DUI accusations to know what legal defense options they have.
